Wire & Twine,

February 6th, 2007

Wire & Twine doesn’t really employ child labor, but every once in a while little visitors like to get involved in the shop.

It’s all part and parcel for this small studio located in Ohio. Making the process visible, educating, and sharing ideas is part of the philosophy, along with crafting handmade products with original designs.

They even make their website by hand. Truly a “Human User Interface.”

Many of their shirts are inspired by the things they love. Like the Sound Burger, a portable record player that challenges the ubiquity of the iPod.

The Tii-shirt (pictured above), another example of drawing from the things they love - a Wii remote controller from Nintendo’s latest console.

Chris Glass, designer of the shirt says, “Nintendo was a very influential part of my childhood. Understanding the pixels that made up Mario fueled my desire to study graphic design.”

One of the first products was the Facial Hairshirt, depicting exemplary styles of beards with a key printing along the seam. (related to video below).

Just saw this t-shirt. This is an ace t-shirt. Nothing better than a t-shirt that someone puts time and attention into! On the website www.funishirts.com there is a simular t-shirt I bought with a set of decks on it. It literally has every detail on it which was quite amazing considering it wasnts screen printed! Any as I said great t-shirt hope to see much more!
