Don’t trust Zombies

February 10th, 2009

After the shutdown of T-Shirt Hell, who will take their place?

Shirtcity already took a first step by releasing a fairly offensive design which didn’t wait to hurt religious feelings.

But they got a point: humans who come back from the dead should be something to scare the living daylights out of you. From quite a lot of movies we know what to do when meeting an undead: blow their heads off, hit them with all we can grab or just run for your life.

Don't trust Zombies

Nevertheless there is one undead that we worship and is the center of a A T-shirt that should make you wonder and think, or in the best case, just giggle.

Available at Shirtcity, for the Shirt Of The Week prize until Friday.

The faded Line Clothing Company

February 10th, 2009

Brad Mastrine, The faded Line Clothing Company:

“I am the Founder and Creative Director of The Faded Line Clothing Company., based in Boulder, Colorado.

The faded Line Clothing Company

We are a music-inspired clothing line that features highly collectable designs from art prints, rock posters, and album covers. Our artists are some of the top rock music artists in the industry: Emek, Jim Pollock, Todd Slater and Jeff Wood, and designs by critically acclaimed 1940’s & 50’s jazz album artist Jim Flora. Though our artists have worked with bands like Tool and Pearl Jam to Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington, our objective is to bring their art into the forefront rather than in the shadow of a band’s name.

The faded Line Clothing Company

The Faded Line Clothing Co. was created in 2007 and has exploded with sales worldwide and all across the US. Almost all of this growth has been due to word-of-mouth and customer brand loyalty. Recently we sold 100 hand-made batik wall-hangings, retailing at $100 each, in less than 23 hours. In addition, we sold 380 signed and numbered, silk screen jigsaw puzzles in 30 minutes.

The faded Line Clothing Company

It is this passion from our customers that is positioning us to take the next step and increase our retail presence. We are definitely looking for retailers to carry our line in their stores and have mainly relied on feedback from our customers on what stores to contact.

The faded Line Clothing Company

One thing that sets us apart from other clothing lines is that each of our designs has a story; a history behind the image. The imagery is already well known and highly collectable. We’re speaking to a lifestyle of music and art lovers, not just today’s trend. Our customers are not only art collectors but are very passionate about anything pop culture related: high fashion, live music, vinyl designer toys.

The faded Line Clothing Company

They have shown us that people are becoming increasingly interested in the illustration, rather than purchasing clothing with an emphasis on a band or a brand name.

The faded Line Clothing Company

Undoubtedly our artwork is unique and stylistically well ahead of what is currently offered in many established retail lines. In an effort to keep the focus on the illustration, our line is not over-branded.

The art and quality garments simply sell itself”.

CommonThreadz Unveils T-Shirts Designed by African Orphans that Help Feed Children in Need

CommonThreadz Unveils T-Shirts Designed by African Orphans that Help Feed Children in Need

CommonThreadz, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has launched a new series of t-shirts designed by orphans in Africa.

For each shirt sold, they are able to feed an orphan or vulnerable child for one month.
The Orphan Collection t-shirts are all limited editions, printed with eco-friendly water-based inks, and are available in women, men and kids sizes.

In addition to each shirt feeding an orphan in Africa for one month, each orphan artist receives clothing, a new school uniform, school supplies, a backpack, and meals for the school year. The designs in the current collection were created by orphans in Obanjenie, South Africa, where CommonThreadz is working to rebuild the primary school and feed and care for the vulnerable children in the area.

The fact that the orphans are participating in the process to help rebuild their lives and community is something that Zac Folk, founder of CommonThreadz, finds particularly inspiring, stating: “The Orphan Collection is a true win-win. The orphans have a great time with the art projects and receive the benefits from their creative work, while our supporters pick up a hip limited-edition t-shirt that feeds an orphan for a month.”

Another innovative component of the Orphan Collection is that each t-shirt includes a tag with the name of an orphan that CommonThreadz is able to feed for a month because of the purchase and a special code that allows the customer to view & interact with that child’s online profile, complete with continually updated photos, videos, and status reports.

As a gesture to thank their supporters, anyone who purchases a t-shirt gets their name placed on the CommonThreadz Honor Wall in Africa where they help to feed the orphans.

The charity also has a series of shirts with designs donated by talented artists from around the world that provide a school uniform to an orphan for each shirt sold.

THE COLD HANDS OF SHOREDITCH

February 5th, 2009

THE COLD HANDS OF SHOREDITCH

THE COLD HANDS OF SHOREDITCH is a joint venture between the designers of t-shirt lines Without Backbones and Lightnin’ Jim.

THE COLD HANDS OF SHOREDITCH

The Lightnin’ Jim tees feature imagery of an old rockabilly punk from the late 70s early 80’s called Smutty Smith, somewhat of a legendary figure who used to hang out with the Sex Pistols and David Bowie.

THE COLD HANDS OF SHOREDITCH

Without Backbones follows a strict dress code of black on black on white. True to form these boys reflect fresh humorous design with a slightly cynical view born out of spent youth in a provincial seaside town.

THE COLD HANDS OF SHOREDITCH

You can see more styles at THE COLD HANDS OF SHOREDITCH online shop.
