CommonThreadz Unveils T-Shirts Designed by African Orphans that Help Feed Children in Need

CommonThreadz, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has launched a new series of t-shirts designed by orphans in Africa.

For each shirt sold, they are able to feed an orphan or vulnerable child for one month.
The Orphan Collection t-shirts are all limited editions, printed with eco-friendly water-based inks, and are available in women, men and kids sizes.

In addition to each shirt feeding an orphan in Africa for one month, each orphan artist receives clothing, a new school uniform, school supplies, a backpack, and meals for the school year. The designs in the current collection were created by orphans in Obanjenie, South Africa, where CommonThreadz is working to rebuild the primary school and feed and care for the vulnerable children in the area.

The fact that the orphans are participating in the process to help rebuild their lives and community is something that Zac Folk, founder of CommonThreadz, finds particularly inspiring, stating: “The Orphan Collection is a true win-win. The orphans have a great time with the art projects and receive the benefits from their creative work, while our supporters pick up a hip limited-edition t-shirt that feeds an orphan for a month.”

Another innovative component of the Orphan Collection is that each t-shirt includes a tag with the name of an orphan that CommonThreadz is able to feed for a month because of the purchase and a special code that allows the customer to view & interact with that child’s online profile, complete with continually updated photos, videos, and status reports.

As a gesture to thank their supporters, anyone who purchases a t-shirt gets their name placed on the CommonThreadz Honor Wall in Africa where they help to feed the orphans.

THE COLD HANDS OF SHOREDITCH

February 5th, 2009

THE COLD HANDS OF SHOREDITCH

THE COLD HANDS OF SHOREDITCH is a joint venture between the designers of t-shirt lines Without Backbones and Lightnin’ Jim.

THE COLD HANDS OF SHOREDITCH

The Lightnin’ Jim tees feature imagery of an old rockabilly punk from the late 70s early 80’s called Smutty Smith, somewhat of a legendary figure who used to hang out with the Sex Pistols and David Bowie.

THE COLD HANDS OF SHOREDITCH

Without Backbones follows a strict dress code of black on black on white. True to form these boys reflect fresh humorous design with a slightly cynical view born out of spent youth in a provincial seaside town.

THE COLD HANDS OF SHOREDITCH

You can see more styles at THE COLD HANDS OF SHOREDITCH online shop.

FLIPNY CLOTHING CORPORATION: An authentic NYC Culture Brand

February 5th, 2009

Todd, FLIPNY Clothing Corporation:

“It is my pleasure to introduce to you: FLIPNY Clothing Corporation. My goal is to catch the Body and Soul of New York City and distribute it to the rest of the world in the form of a physical, wearable item.

FLIPNY CLOTHING CORPORATION: An authentic NYC Culture Brand

This season FLIPNY paid homage to the great city that New York is today and always has been. Much like fine wine, it only gets better with age. When given the opportunity to create a NYC inspired design palette, we looked at Manhattan as though it was a vineyard. We became artists studying the science of viticulture, but instead Manhattan was our “terroir”.

FLIPNY CLOTHING CORPORATION: An authentic NYC Culture Brand

We tasted and tested the best of what NY had to offer, and produced a collection that both native and visiting NYers will fall in love with. One theme throughout the collection is the hard-fountain pen line that creates sophisticated vine patterns that wraps your arms and shoulders in soft treated apparel that is unmatched by our peers.

This is your City; and FLIPNY is your apparel.

FLIPNY CLOTHING CORPORATION: An authentic NYC Culture Brand

Finally, for most visitors, both foreign and domestic, New York is the shrine of a good time. We try to promote this in every piece of clothing we design. We strive to not only have everyone associated with FLIPNY Clothing Corporation to represent the authentic New York but to also have fun doing it”.

Dripping in Fat

February 2nd, 2009

Dripping in Fat

Dripping in Fat is an ideal… one of making the world a better dressed place… with design conscious threads that self-appreciative people will wear with pride.

Dripping in Fat

James, Dripping in Fat:

“We have recruited some of the best designers from around the globe to make visual statements that you can wear every day. Hopefully there will be something for you… and if there isn’t then there will be soon, as we plan to keep adding to our collection. Making it the first place to hit if you’re looking for that something special.

Dripping in Fat

DiF is a small but focused company, which has set extremely high standards for itself. From customer service to the quality of it’s products. We want all DiF customers to be 100% happy and to make this happen we will always try and answer any question you have about DiF and it’s products… Although we would like to help in all areas of life I’m afraid we aren’t qualified to help in other matters such as medical diagnosis, relationships or construction…

Dripping in Fat

We care about the design. We care about cool products. Two of the founders of DiF are Creative Directors of 15 years standing. One of the founders has to be wrestled out of his tee and into a suit for client meeting… It’s against his philosophy… but, unfortunately, a necessary evil…

Dripping in Fat

So there you are. A company that gives a toss about what it does and how it goes about it. Now go check out our tees, buy one, two or more… buy them for your friends… buy them for strangers… and be happy”.

Spread the love… welcome to the DiF community.

T-post Issue #42: The Face of Honesty and Evil

February 2nd, 2009

Provocative news + graphic T-shirt = T-post, the world’s first wearable magazine.

Every six weeks, subscribers receive a new issue in the mail. News story on the inside. Artist interpretation on the front. All-around conversation piece.

T-post Issue #42: The Face of Honesty and Evil

The Face of Honesty and Evil

Once again blessing us with its beacon of light, science has recently uncovered findings of immeasurable value to everyone from used car salesmen to Casanovas.

Two different research teams, independent of each other, have developed computer generated images that settles the score on an ancient mystery: what the worlds most evil and most honest faces look like!

Design By Eem

Eem is the design studio of Emmanuel Bossuet & Marie Laure Bellanger. They are perhaps best known for their luxury-oriented work for high-end jewelry and fashion brands such as Cartier, Sonia Rykiel and Swarovski.

“For this issue they’ve created a ‘mask’ print with inspiration from the manner of Italian Renaissance, but interlaced with a radiating pattern.

The aim of this conception was to reveal the interaction between the cognitive processes and the universal seek for decorative — i.e. logic — structures in nature. What’s in a decor? The engaging stimulus conveying harmony or just its exact opposite, the signal of very immediate danger? One could wonder… especially when strolling through Château de Versailles.”
