PALE HORSE AND HYDRO 74 PRESENT THE “BACK IN BLACK” T-SHIRT EXHIBIT ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22ND WITH LIVE SCREEN PRINTING

“20 of the best t-shirt designers showcase original, one-color designs with t-shirts screen printed on-site”

St. Petersburg, FL, November 10, 2008 – Accomplished graphic designers, Hydro 74 (Joshua Smith) and Pale Horse (Chris Parks) introduce the public to some of the unsung and unrecognized digital artists behind our favorite t-shirts from popular apparel companies, bands and record labels.

On Saturday, November 22nd from 4:00PM – 10:00PM, the “Back in Back” T-Shirt Exhibit showcases original, one-color designs by 20 of the best t-shirt artists in the US and England, all with their own distinctive style. Their client lists includes companies like Nike, Target, Vans, Ecko Unltd, DC Shoes, Tank Theory, Burton, Element, Lucas Arts, Upper Playground, Converse and Osiris, as well as countless music artists. In fact, many might not realize that they’ve been collecting pieces from these artists in their closets for years.

During the exhibit:

The designs will be screen printed and displayed on the walls. Free to view. Attendees choose the design(s) they like best, the color and size for their t-shirt, and the location of the design. Each t-shirt is $15. (Guys and girls sizes available. Colors and sizes available while supplies last.) The limited edition t-shirt will be printed on-site within 30 minutes by Noah Deledda of Thx Mgmt.

For those that can’t attend, the t-shirts will also be available online from Monday, November 10th – Saturday, November 22nd for $18 each. All online orders will be mailed after the event.

Afrobeat

Afrobeat is a term coined by Nigerian born band leader Fela Kuti. Popularized during the 1960/70s, Afrobeat encompasses musical styles from various genres. Kuti used native African harmonies and rhythms combining different elements like jazz, funk, fusion, African chant and structured them.

The rich sound echoed the political struggle not only by Africans but also by African-Americans during this period. Our aim for the Afrobeat concept was to encompass both the political struggle of blacks and the influence music plays in strain for survival.

Argyle Rasta

Argyle pattern which consists of diamond shaped blocks against a colored background has its roots in Scotland as early as 16th century. Although the pattern has been used in fashion through the 19th century; the preppy look brought back the argyle with a vengeance in the 80’s and it’s been commercial every since.

The Rasta Argyle concept is an establishment of ‘Rastafarnism’ in popular culture. Our design with bright Rastafarian colors of red, green, and yellow is juxtaposed within the Argyle pattern.
