CHILDREN

October 11th, 2007

CHILDREN was founded by Rob Flate, a DJ and artist born and raised in LA. The name “Children” represents expansion, growth and change.

CHILDREN

There’s a new street culture where the lines between peoples’ styles, musical tastes and artistic sensibilities have blurred. CHILDREN is designed to celebrate that growth while keeping a foot planted in the style of the original great streetwear designers.

CHILDREN

CHILDREN rides the line between pop and underground, mainstream and anti-establishment. The designs are inspired by music, LA lifestyle, and streetwear culture. CHILDREN strives to be hip enough to wear, original enough to stand out and classic enough to stick around.”

Pizza box

October 9th, 2007

Pizza box started in 2007 with, and it should come as no surprise, a Pizza Box.

Pizza box

Nick had Richard painting murals on the walls of his Pizza Shop, that reflected each of the signature pizzas and they got talking as to where Richard was going with his artwork. He had already been drawing his own comics and had been to numerous Art Jams and had always wanted to print his art on t-shirts.

Nick, on the other hand, had a Pizza Shop that was different to all the rest in that he used good ingredients and believed quality should come first, not profit, and as Nick’s wife will attest, he was always looking for hair-brained schemes to get involved in.

So it was not long before Richard and Nick had come up with a concept and designed the packaging and even agreed on a philosophy to work to.

YNM: Yes No Maybe

October 3rd, 2007

Socrates wrote: “The only true wisdom consists of knowing you know nothing”. That makes the guys at YNM pretty wise.

BenYes Not Maybe :

“Thinking Hurts”. The very essence of existence is to make decisions , from the second we open our eyes in the morning, we are constantly filtering choices. We are bombarded with questions that need answers every day. YNM is for everyone who knows that they don’t know.

YNM: Yes Not Maybe

Yes No Maybe is an Independent UK label and design house, producing bold, fresh and original street-wear. YNM was founded on it’s creator’s indecisiveness - everything in his life was just a bit Yes…No…Maybe? Until Ben Farleigh realized the answer may be just that. “Yes No Maybe” was the first thing he was ever really sure about.

YNM: Yes Not Maybe

Yes No Maybe garments feature strong, irreverent graphics, with diverse references to popular culture. They have a sense of humor that runs through all their work, but promise not to make you look like a joke. They dabble in slogans, design original graphics, and “sample” artwork from strange, unlikely and exotic places, like the DJ who samples random old classics, and dips into all kinds of obscure genres, pulling new and wonderful things out of the mix, and the crowd goes wild!

YNM: Yes Not Maybe

The YNM creative team is based in North London. But the graphics featured on garments and their varied influences have come from all over the world and are inspired by many generations.

by night… Erin Magee, creator and designer of MadeMe, has formulated a refreshing maturity and quality to women’s streetwear.

MadeMe: new women collection !

As MadeMe launches “First to Fall” with its Fall/Holiday 2008 collection, Magee fuses together the comfortable and confrontational nature of streetwear with the confidence and sex appeal of a woman.

MadeMe: new women collection !

Seen.

October 1st, 2007

seen. is an upcoming label for “non-hippie reggae and dancehallwear” trying to establish a visual language far away from red-green-and-yellow Marijuana-leaves and Bob Marley merchandise. seen., tries to stay in permanent contact with contemporary Jamaican popular culture instead of sticking to the cliché-soaked images that some ever-stoned hippies still carry around. (see for our whole “philosophy“)

Seen.

That´s also why seen. went to KIngston from August 06 to February 07 where the link to living photographer legend Peter Dean Rickards was establlished. Now seen. and P. D. Rickard collaborate on a tee:

Seen.

Tobias, seen. :

“The Afflicted Yard has never released its images for the production of T-shirts. This is generally because I’ve always seen the t-shirt thing as having huge potential for the Afflicted Yard and I wanted to wait and do it right rather than to sell the photographs to anyone with a t shirt line who would then be able to use the images in any way that they wanted.

Seen.

I get maybe two or three such requests every month from T-shirt lines all over the planet, and to date I’ve always refused. Seen. out of Germany is different, however. Their line is nice-real nice-and on top of it they’re consistent.

Seen.

As a result, seen. was given the green light and they’ve released a (very) limited edition t-shirt featuring an Afflicted Yard original photograph of Lee Scratch Perry as well as the Porus bullhead and photographs of Kay with the 12-gauge which compose the collaborative logo pictured above .

Seen.

This is the first time any photograph has been allowed out of the Afflicted Yard for such use, excluding of course the LA LEWIS tees ( which were actually Afflicted Yard T-shirts anyway).”

Commune

October 1st, 2007

Jeremy, Commune:

“Well, its our new season, we do one range of limited ed. tees per year, so the yearly release is quite exciting for us. We have some great artists involved this year, including Adam Cruickshank, Catalina Estrada and Ronald Kurniawan…

Commune

Commune is structured a little differently, with part of the profits from each tee sold going to the designer of that tee, so if you love the tee, our artists get to share in that love”.
