De-evolition?

February 27th, 2008

T-Post, February issue “De-evolition?” : Ah technology<, its advancements have improved our lives in so many ways. Thanks to technology we no longer need to use our precious brains for things like remembering phone numbers,  how to spell or read a map.

De-evolition?

Author, Cory Doctorow, refers to our technological exploitation as using an “outboard memory”. We’re freeing up our minds for better performance in daily living; leaving more energy for creativity and problem solving processes. But when a recent study showed that a third of people under 30 can’t remember their own phone number, it makes you wonder if our technological advances are really all that good for us.

Maybe the Author and Journalist Bob Brooks was right in a recent article for the New York times when he said: “I had thought that the magic of the information age was that it allowed us to know more, but then I realized the magic of the information age is that it allows us to know less.” And what about in the long run? What kind of long-term effects are we going to experience as a result of our inability to do anything for ourselves?

De-evolution? is designed by Matt Furie. San Francisco based illustrator Matt Furie spends all day in his room drawing and watching youtube. At night he parties, dances, strips down to his boxers and pours milk all over his body in front of strangers (well, he only did that once).

He likes to draw monsters and animals and he likes fur and fangs and feathers, scales and fantasy. He especially likes fur. Therefore it’s not surprising to see that his vision of the future human race (split in two, as predicted by evolutionary theorist Oliver Curry)

We are the New Threat

February 26th, 2008

Mike Mendes & Joshua Measures of New Threat Apparel :

To quote The Smiths “There is a light that never goes out” and we’re burning bright brother.

We are the New Threat

I’ll make you a promise; to never give up, to never give in, because we’ve all got reasons and I’ve never been one to throw away a hand. We’re fighting wars in languages we don’t understand, we’re burning buildings we’ve never seen while back at home the homeless line the streets and the injured sit packed in waiting rooms.

We are the New Threat

We’ve had enough. Things can change. We’ll stand together, a voice in the dark, a light that never goes out.

We are the New Threat

This is our vision. This is our canvas. This is our movement.

We are the New Threat.

Facebook Tees

February 26th, 2008

Lee, Face Book Tshirts :

“The slogan” came about when my girlfriend was talking about how she likes to turn the pillow over to get the cooler side and i said “There’s a facebook group for people like you.”

Facebook

“Facebook is so 2007″ is a response to the critism that is appearing in the press over here in the UK saying how Facebook traffic has decreased and how annoying the applications are.

Facebook

Like the “Facebook is more addictive than crack” design, each of these will be produced in a limited edition run of 500 Tshirts.

Orisue

About Orisue :

In late 2005, Michael Huynh (Founder/Creative Director) committed himself to one of his long-time dreams. What followed was the inception of Orisue - an independent apparel company inspired by the youth’s many subcultures such as hip-hop, skate, and art. Focusing solely on ORISUE’s creative direction, Michael partnered with long-time friend and entrepreneur, Allen Doan (President), to make ORISUE a reality.

In January 2006, Orisue prepared for its premier release, Summer 2006, featuring only a dozen T-shirts and two crew sweaters. Utilizing the internet, Orisue introduced Summer 2006 on many of the world’s most prestigious street-fashion websites. Its refreshing designs created a buzz and received a strong response from the sites’ readers. Taking advantage of the exposure, Orisue released Summer 2006 to several stores, all having success with the line.

Currently, Orisue is releasing its fifth season, Summer 2007 which includes premium T-shirts, cut-and-sewn crew sweaters, cut-and-sewn full-zip hoodies, and fitted hats. Since ORISUE’s emergence in the industry, it has dramatically grown into exactly what Michael and Allen dreamt it would become, with currently 14 members on staff… and many more to come.

The Faded Line Clothing Co

February 22nd, 2008

The concept behind The Faded Line Clothing Co. is based on their love for apparel and their appreciation (obsession) of art. Why not further juxtapose them to make an impressive clothing line? That’s what they did.

The Faded Line Clothing Co

Brad Mastrine has been an Art Director in the music industry for about 10 years and launched the clothing line in 2007. They are working with many of the top rock poster artists from the last two decades who have created gig posters for bands like Tool, Ween, The Flaming Lips, Pearl Jam and the Pixies, to only name a few… Collectively they’ve worked with thousands of bands around the world and have won countless awards from their work from Pollstar, the Independent Music Awards, and have been featured in other notable publications such as CNN and Rolling Stone magazine.

The Faded Line Clothing Co

In addition, they have had work displayed in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Hard Rock Cafes, and Art Galleries throughout the world. The illustrations and careful merchandise production techniques speak for itself.

The Faded Line Clothing Co

The Faded Line concept is to bring these artists, all of which are known worldwide already, into the forefront rather than in the shadow of a band’s name.

The Faded Line Clothing Co

To date with virtually no marketing or advertising, they have had orders from all around the world (Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Sweden, UK) and across the US. The line has definitely created a buzz and are bringing a new counterculture to the masses. Their customers are not only art collectors but are very passionate about high fashion, live music, vinyl and plush designer toys, and anything pop culture related.

The Faded Line Clothing Co

They have shown us that more people are becoming increasingly more interested in the designs, rather than having something with a band’s name.
